For the Alps is a showpiece: a grand tour of natural landscapes, traditional practices and forward-looking innovations designed to ensure that the Alpine protected areas survive to maintain this truly exceptional heritage.
The whistle-stop tour does not merely showcase impressive scenery and invaluable resources: it presents a broad spectrum of activities and raises important questions for all those who engage with the Alps, no matter whether the mountains are home, a holiday destination, or simply a place to explore. Presented in five languages.

Created for Regione Sardegna - Sardinia (Italy), as permanent installation and screening outdoors in the castle square in Cagliari.

The subject is "The Castle" in Cagliari. The description of the most ancient and noble district of Cagliari seen and told by impartial eyes. The eyes of a writer whose character and whose words were formed there, together with the words of a character in his novel, who died at the stake in Madrid calling for the love of his ward far away. An attempt to supplement the traditional tourists with a cultural stimulus as to the identity of the place.

Personal project - Sotto e sopra lo Stelvio

Often referred to as "The Stelvio", this mountain pass is the second highest in the Alps, under the gaze of Ortler, the highest peak and glacier in Italy. It is closed in winter due to the amount of snow which falls and covers the famous twisty road between Italy and Switzerland.

Once a year the National Park park organises the 'Stelvio Bike' where the road is closed to motorised vehicles for a day to allow 8000+ cyclists to take part in the non-competitive event.

It is loved by many motor enthusiasts and clubs, for the road itself and it's 48 hairpin bends and incline beginning (or ending) at 2757m however, there is more to see and experience than the road itself, and this video is the start of an on-going project to illustrate that.

Inspired by a poem of the same title, a collection of words by Daniel Rowbotham following the loss of his daughter in 2008. When asked about the apparent hidden meanings, he replied:

"I had been guided to write everything down, as my head was in a mess. It was the time when Beren was in the chapel of rest around the corner at the undertakers. I woke with a start, sat up scribbled, crashed back into deep sleep. This happened again not long after, the result is the words printed on the sheet unaltered, unedited. It is remarkable that you have found such fantastic meanings in them."

Produced for Menigitis Research Foundation - UK and dedicated to my niece, Beren Rowbotham, who at the age of ten lost her fight against meningitis (meningococcal septicaemia). The opening title was written by her older sister Cendl.

For the Drents Museum - Assen, Netherlands.

Created for Ente Parco Nazionale del Gargano, - Apulia (Italy) an installation for the Torre Mileto, Gargano, Apulia, Italy.

The coast of Gargano, the geology, geography and coastal communities, the importance and influence of the sea. Inspired by words of Riccardo Bacchelli this metaphorical interpretation for the multi-image was layered as poetry using words from his thoughts on the sea and Gargano. The work has two purposes, to welcome the tourists that arrive from all parts of the world and to provide a place of a cultural identity rather than local.

Multivision is used as a virtual landscape for the era of dinosaurs, where viewers of all ages can immerse themselves. It is not to make an exhaustive illustration of the age of dinosaurs, but to define the importance of footprints, their valuable content and the contribution that underpins the latest discovery: that millions of years ago Gargano was the Horn of Africa.

Created for Ente Parco Nazionale del Gargano, - Apulia (Italy) an installation for the visitor centre of Monte Sant'Angelo, Apulia, Italy.

Visual poetry of the inland areas and towns of the Gargano. Gargano is the name of a mountain, the name of a shepherd, a symbol of the miracle that governs the grotto of Archangel Gabriele. It is not however a definite place, not a town not even one of the localities that make up the area that carries this name, but all of these things give body to the invisible town told by Italo Calvino.

3 screen/projector presentation, ratio 10:3, 4 min. Dataton Watchout using mixed media integrating 3 live video inputs. Approx. screen size 2.3 x 7 m.

Multivision conference opener, a concept inspired by the "Invisible Cities" by Italo Calvino. To present the historical-cultural aspect of 'building' for 'housing' needs. the ideal city focusing on culture, industry or nature, and today on that "urban breath" that represents the discriminating quality of the citizens' lives. If a city is to be a living museum, it should never evolve and should not even modify the number of its inhabitants and its economy.

Multivision conference opener. "To Invent the City", was the second part of three for ACER. It leads us through the frontiers of imagination and perception like the interpretative keys necessary to daily life. Each place, each building, each corner of our city takes up meaning, from the use one makes of them and from how one looks at them: without us as "interpreters" what is built by man would be "invisible". A Fellinian paradox that is a comment on the idea that life is a continuous story telling and that each one of us may be the story teller of our self.

3 screen/projector presentation, ratio 10:3, 4 min. Dataton Watchout using mixed media integrating 3 live video inputs. Approx. screen size 2.3 x 7 m.

This third sequential multivision conference opener defined the city as a layering of history and personal stories that weave every day to define the areas of housing, giving the work of building a cultural function as if like the one that sets out to write a novel or to compose a symphony. In fact, today becomes a mediating construction of imagination, possibility, technology and individual and collective needs, to the definition of the city that does not exist.
